Domains & DNS
Plan domain and DNS changes without confusing them with Micro CMS content settings.
A Micro CMS site can be ready before the domain is switched. Treat the public address inside Micro CMS and the DNS change at your provider as two separate jobs.
Before changing DNS
Prepare the destination site, HTTPS and redirects first. Record the current DNS values so you can reverse an accidental change.
During cutover
Update only the records required for the new destination. DNS changes can take time to appear everywhere because resolvers and proxies cache previous answers.
After cutover
Test both the preferred hostname and any alternate hostname you intend to redirect. Check HTTPS, Media, forms and email-related domain settings.
Micro CMS settings
Set the site’s public domain/base path to the address visitors should ultimately use. Do not copy a hosting panel’s local folder path into a public URL field.
