Audit Logs provide a history of actions which are useful for accountability and troubleshooting.
What to look for
Use the log when you need to confirm who changed a setting, deployed a package, ran a security action or performed another recorded administrative operation.
Retention
Audit retention is controlled by Housekeeping settings. Choose a period long enough for the way the site is operated.
Not a backup
An audit entry can explain what happened, but it does not contain a complete copy of the site state. Use backups for recovery.
